Quang Binh is a beautiful destination which is developing recently, especially a significant event of exploring Son Doong Caves, the biggest cave in the World. This is less tourist destination and the most suitable for travelers who love joining to adventurous tours.
Quang Binh Overview
Quang Binh, a province in North Central Coast Vietnam, is located at the narrowest place according to the east-west direction of the S-shaped strip of Vietnam (40.3 km following the shortest path from the Lao border to the South). Thank its strength, Quang Binh is developing many kinds of tourism, especially eco tours, adventure tours and cultural tours.

Quang Binh has international traffic routes running through as National Route 1A, Ho Chi Minh Highway, North-South railway. In addition, the province has waterway (Hon La seaport and
Gianh seaport and airway (Dong Hoi Airport). It shares a border with Ha Tinh Province in the north, Quang Tri Province in the south, the South China Sea in the east, Khammuane Province in the west and Savannakhet Province (Laos) in the southwest with Truong Son Mountain range as a natural border.
Quang Binh History
Archaeological excavation in this area proved that human lived in Quang Binh since the Stone Age. Many artifacts as ceramic vases, stone tools were found here. In 1926, Madeleine Colani, a French archaeologist found many artifacts in caves in the west of Quang Binh; as a result, she concluded that Hoa Binh Culture presented in this area. Under Le Trung Hung, Quang Binh was named Tien Binh. The central and the south of Vietnam (from Yang mount pass to Binh Thuan Province was part of the Champa Kingdom) 
During that time, wars between Champa kingdom and Dai Viet were frequent; normally, a majority of the wars were started by the Champa Kingdom which was stronger than Dai Viet. Quang Binh became Dai Viet’s territory in 1306 A.D. following the arrange marriage of the Tran Dynasty princess Huyen Tran to the Champa king, Jaya Sinhavarman III. 

In 1604, it was renamed Quang Binh. Nguyen Phuc Khoat Lord divided Quang Binh into 3 districts Bo Chinh (Dinh 
Ngoi), Muoi (Luu Don) and Quang Binh (Dinh Tram). In 1976, 3 provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien were merged into Binh Tri Thien province, and in 1989 the province was separated as before.
Quang Binh climate and best time to visit
It is divided into two seasons in Quang Binh. The rainy season lasts from September to March next year. The annual average rainfall is 2,000-2,300mm. Heavy rains concentrate in September, October, and November. The dry season is from April to August, and annual average degree is 24ºC-26ºC.

The best time to take a Quang Binh tour package is from April to August, it is an ideal time to explore caves, and enjoy natural beauty completely. 
Quang Binh Transportation

Road, rail, and shipping routes are fairly well developed. Dong Hoi City is 491 km far from Hanoi, 94 km from Dong Ha, 166 km from Hue, and 197 km from Vinh.
National Highway No.1A and North-South Express Train runs throw the province and stop at Dong Hoi City. Quang Binh has Cha Lo Border Gate in Minh Hoa District to Laos.
It is also a
domestic airport in Quang Binh and connects many flight routes from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.


Things to do and see in Quang Binh
Bang Mineral Hot Spring:
Bang Mineral Hot Spring is located 60km south of Dong Hoi City, in Kim Thuy Commune, Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province. It has been recorded as the only hot water source in Vietnam with an on-spot temperature of 105oC.
Investments have been made on several ten hectares of land area for the development of swimming pools, spas, and accommodation and tourist services to make Bang Hot Spring a favorite resort and wellness tourism destination of both international and domestic visitors.
Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park
It is located to the north of the majestic Truong Son Range in central Quang Binh Province.  The most impressive
are that Phong Nha - Ke Bang is ancient karst area of the highest significance and value in both Vietnam and the world; as a result, it was recognized as Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO at its 27th general assembly session being held in Paris from June 30-July 5, 2003.
The over 200,000 ha of parkland includes beautiful limestone formations,
grottoes, and caves, and boasts lush forestland covering 95 percent of the park area.
The area is considered a paradise for researchers and explorers of grottoes and caves, and Vietnamese and British scientists have so far surveyed 20 with a total length of 70km. Of them, 17 are in the Phong Nha area and three in the Ke Bang Area.
The Phong Nha Grotto itself which lends its name to the whole system is probably the most beautiful of all, containing many fascinating rock formations, enchanting visitors with evocative names such as Lion, Fairy Caves, Royal Court and Buddha.
Besides the grotto and cave systems, Phong Nha has the longest underground rivers, the largest caverns and passageways, the widest and prettiest sand banks, and the most astonishing rock formations in the world.
Tien Son Grotto
Tien Son Grotto is more than 980m long. Going into the cave for about 400m, visitors will see an abyss, about 10m deep. Then comes another part of the cave, about 500m long is rather dangerous for walking. At present, nearly 400m of the cave have been installed with the
lighting system to make it safe for visitors.
Some look like a man or an animal, and there is one that looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. On the cave ceiling, there are glittering gold and silver-like veins. Some stalagmites produce an echoing sound when slightly knocked.
Quang Binh Gate
This architectural construction made of a porch and walls was built in 1630 to protect Phu Xuan, a
capital of the Nguyen Lords, from a distance. Due to several battles and the passage of time, the gate has suffered heavy damage.

Fortunately, it has been restored to its original design, and visitors crossing the territory of Quang Binh will be delighted by the wonderful landscapes surrounding the Quang Binh Gate.
Quang Binh Travel Tips
